Our History

Robert J. Benjamin left his home in northwest Persia as a teen. He arrived in the United States with empty pockets and big dreams, determined to become a successful American businessman. Nine years later, in 1921, he was a married man and the proprietor of Kermans Oriental Rug Company. By the 1960s, that family business employed Benjamin’s three sons. Kermans grew to become a complete flooring resource, one of the premier retailers in the state of Indiana.

Three generations of the Benjamin family have built an invaluable network of industry connections to ensure the latest looks and finest products are available to builders and commercial clients at our central Indiana headquarters.
 
More than a century after Kermans was founded, we continue to be defined by the finest brands of cabinets and broadest selection of floors, including carpet, hardwoods, tile, area rugs and resilient flooring. The consultative approach to customer service on which Robert Benjamin started his business remains the hallmark of Kermans today.
